I love summer and it sure has been slow to arrive this year. I just couldn't resist getting out with my camera for an hour today, so I grabbed my bag, jumped in the car and headed off to the Rutland Falconry and Owl centre near Oakham.
It's so close to where I live but I have never been there before...!
Set in glorious woodland there are many different species of Owl, several larger birds of prey such as Hawks and Kites, plus the odd vulture or two.
After all the rain we have had recently it was a little bit muddy underfoot, but armed with my D7K and 200mm lens off I went.
Took some great shots of Owls, this one in particular; something to watch is that as the setting is mainly sheltered woodland the lighting can be a bit tricky, so I did have to up the ISO once or twice to get my exposure something like... Take a look in the Bird Gallery to see a few more Owl shots ....
You should try and find time to visit if you're ever over this way too; it's great value for money with some stunning birds and if you check the time-table on their website you can get to see flying displays as well.....
